It’s All About the Books: Enjoyable Presentations 2025
Saturday, 11 AM - Shawn Eyer, Managing Director of Education at the George Washington, Masonic, National Memorial
The heart of the museum collections of the George Washington Masonic national Memorial is the 1792 edition John Brown’s Self Interpreting Bible that belonged to General Washington himself. It was against British law for colonist in North America to print their own Bibles, necessitating expensive shipment of the sacred volume from approved printers in England or Scotland. Immediately following the revolution, George Washington helped sponsor this Bible, the first printed in New York. He subsequently used it as his family’s Bible, scribing it with genealogical records. Learn about how this important early American Bible is being conserved and prepared for a major new exhibition in Alexandria, Virginia, near Washington DC.
Saturday, 2 PM - Rick Harris, Principal at Archetypal Artworks
Dip your toes into the ocean of The Knights Templar, the Tarot, and Their Enduring Resonance for modern minds. A copy of the newly printed Knights Templar Tarot will be available to view. Dan Brown will not be in attendance.
Sunday, 11 AM - Pablo Guzman, Owner of the Midnight Oil Bookstore
Join us for an inspirational presentation on the success of the Midnight Oil Bookstore; from a 700 sq. ft. space into a thriving multi-location hub, including the leap from renting to owning a 4,500 sq. ft. building, and now opening a second (new books) bookstore. He will share ideas for implementing the secrets to his success.
Sunday, 2 PM - John Geraghty, Private Collector of English Renaissance Literature
The IΩTA Key, a novel discovery and technique for enhancing your understanding and enjoyment of some of the greatest poetry in the English language. John will have editions of John Milton's Poems (1645), Paradise Lost (1669 and 1674), Paradise Regain'd (1671, 1680), three of Shakespeare's Plays from the Second Folio (1634), and Erasmus Darwin's The Botanic Garden (1791) and Temple of Nature (1803).
